My studio time is divided between "paintings
on paper" and my newer obsession, "paintings on fabric."
I approach my art quilts from the viewpoint of a watercolor artist and
use the same media and methods I have used for years when painting watercolors
on paper.
To create the painted art quilts I gather
many different pieces of fabric and paper and create a collage that I
re-paint and quilt by machine. Papers are coated with acrylic matt medium
for protection.
At times using treated silk fabric, I make transfers from my original
paintings using my computer and inkjet printer. I add some painted fabric
and paper and construct the transfers into a new design. These are called
